I am new to the Launchpad. I have found it such an enormous benefit to up-skill the staff on the floor. The audit tool and key skills documents have identified gaps in the way we support Literacy development in our setting.

As soon as we read about Launchpad we knew it was exactly what we needed. Launchpad has allowed us to directly target the gaps that our children have, allowing our staff to use creative ways to support and develop key skills to enable them to progress and move forward. Launchpad has enabled EYFS practitioners to assess the children in key strands which are pivotal to their early development. This has improved planning and teaching for whole cohorts in addition to SEND children.  It has enabled practitioners to find out exactly what children can do and provide next steps. We had a Speech & Language Therapist visit last week to observe one of our children. During the visit, she said, “It’s not often I go out to a setting and I don’t have to recommend that they do anything differently. You are doing everything you should be doing. Although our school is new to Launchpad to Literacy it has already proved to be a useful diagnostic tool for our teachers, within our SEND provision. The diagnostic tool has provided teachers with linear progressions for specific skills, to help children access Literacy across school. The linear progressions will also help our teachers inform Educational Health care plans, with obvious next steps.    

Bexhill Academy’s EYFS Team have been on a Launchpad journey for some time now. The CPD is phenomenal and the Launchpad Skills Framework is such a valuable toolkit in our setting. It has improved children’s outcomes and it has deepened practitioners’ knowledge and understanding about how to support the vast range of abilities within the setting.

Embedding Launchpad for Literacy over the past few years has proven invaluable to the children and staff at Hasting Hill Academy. Launchpad allows the team to have a shared language. It helps us to set targets and identify areas of need. Progress can be clearly identified. It works well in a play-based curriculum. It adds a rationale to why we’re working on early language. The children are engaged due to the play-based learning.    

Embedding Launchpad for Literacy and impact at New Beginnings Nursery 

The Launchpad for Literacy approach was first introduced into Bexhill Academy (now part of the WISE Academies) in 2012. The Launchpad for Literacy Toolkit is a comprehensive and, crucially, evidence based, framework. I use it to help me identify what the next steps are for a child in individual speech and language therapy sessions and how that relates to other areas of their development.  I use it consultatively with education and childcare staff to jointly identify a child’s level of success and to support staff to help children move on to the next step.  I’ve […]

We are new to Launchpad this year but already we are excited about it as a school who are struggling with high numbers of speech and language difficulties and as a Trust of schools who are always identifying ways to enrich the children’s experiences in our settings.
