Although our school is new to Launchpad to Literacy it has already proved to be a useful diagnostic tool for our teachers, within our SEND provision. The diagnostic tool has provided teachers with linear progressions for specific skills, to help children access Literacy across school. The linear progressions will also help our teachers inform Educational Health care plans, with obvious next steps.

As soon as we read about Launchpad we knew it was exactly what we needed. Literacy Launchpad has provided us with fundamental pedagogical steps within literacy to support all our pupils at their point of learning. The ease of use and clear guidance helps to wrap appropriate steps in learning around our pupils. 

To support our ASD learners at Yeoman Park Curriculum is based around ‘communication, social interaction and self-regulation.’ A child who cannot communicate will become frustrated and demonstrate this through behaviours. Launchpad helps us identify the gaps in learning that a child may have and informs us of the next steps that they need to master on their journey to becoming effective communicators. Launchpad for Literacy supports the teaching and learning at EGPA by enabling staff to identify any gaps in skills for all aspects of Literacy. The approach is skills based and broken down into many aspects, giving staff clear guidance on how we can improve the children’s skills. This is currently enabling children to make progress from their individual starting points.

Launchpad for literacy has opened our eyes to new ways of helping children make progress with their literacy.  For our setting it has been a resource I go to when I feel a little ‘stuck’ on how to help a child, perhaps if they’ve not fully understood an aspect of literacy.  It has helped me to see the small steps that children naturally progress through that are perhaps not as detailed in other documents.  I’m aware […]

All Staff feel empowered as they can use the framework to obtain the small steps needed to ensure progress for their class or key group. 

Historically we used to have a group within our reception cohort of children who struggled to hold a sentence and we never understood why. Launchpad has really helped me this year. We’ve started using a new phonics scheme and the pace of the programme has really highlighted children needing additional support. For children unable to orally blend or who  cannot repeat a sequence such as a cvc word,  I have been able to track back and address skill gaps in  their  auditory skills and in particular their sequential auditory memory.  I have been able to unpick their phonological awareness and […]

Launchpad has been a fantastic toolkit to help support our children’s phonological awareness and other developmental areas of learning.  It has highlighted to practitioners the barriers children may face particularly in phonics and provided us with support to ensure these gaps are planned for either through the general provision or interventions. 

Launchpad for Literacy has been a fundamental part of our curriculum for many years and the impact has been monumental, not only for the children’s progress but for staffs’ own subject knowledge. Staff use the framework to identify gaps that support children in all areas of learning as well as planning what comes next.
